Why is it that when we find ourselves in a struggle we immediately think that something has gone wrong? What if everything is going right?
Let me explain.
It’s common for our brains to want to protect us by preventing anything from disturbing the status quo–even if our status quo isn’t serving us well. Familiarity appears to resemble safety.
This is not always the truth—it also can be keeping you stuck.
What if…
- God wants to create something beautiful and different in your life?
- The struggle you are facing is merely growing pains?
- God is knitting together a whole new future for you?
Is change easy? Not usually.
Is it comfortable? Most likely not.
Can change be both a struggle and a blessing? Absolutely.
I recall a time in my life when I was in a very difficult season of change. Everything that was once familiar no longer seemed to fit—not even my thoughts.
During this time, someone recommended that I use something physical as a reminder to me that this season shall pass and things would become comfortable once again.
For those of you who know me personally, you have noticed that I am right hand dominant, however, I wear my watch on my right arm. This is unusual.
I did this intentionally. My watch became a constant reminder that although circumstances in my life were tough and uncomfortable at the moment—it wouldn’t always be this way.
Despite the situations around me, I was growing spiritually, I was learning how to navigate new territory, and I was allowing my future to unfold.
It was extremely uncomfortable for me to wear my watch on my right arm. As humans, we are creatures of habit. It was natural for me to want to place my watch on my left arm—I had to purposefully resist the urge to do so.
Every day, when I got dressed, every moment during the day when I would look at my watch to make note of the time, I was reminded that I was changing—my circumstances were shifting. What was now a struggle would soon become my victory—I had to stay the course.
Nothing had gone wrong. My watch kept time effectively on my right arm as it did on my left. It served its purpose regardless of how uncomfortable it made me feel.
What if the uncomfortableness you are resisting right now in your life, is nothing more than change running its due course? Moving you forward into your created greatness.
To this day, more than twenty years later, I continue to wear my watch on my right arm. Instead of it being a reminder of the change I was struggling to overcome, it has now become a symbol of my strength to endure.
By faith, we know God works all things out for our good and His glory. Let faith complete its perfect work in you. Shift your thoughts to align with this truth.
Living a life beyond limitations will require you to choose your thoughts carefully. Your thoughts can be used to bring you into your destiny or keep you stuck in the status quo mentality.
You choose.
What if nothing has gone wrong and everything is going right?
You Are Irreplaceble!
